L.A. The city of angels, La La Land, The Big Orange. Whatever you want to call it, if you call it home or are here on business, there are lots of places for you to meet other Jewish people looking for love.
L.A. is known for its celebrity, Hollywood movies and extravagance. In this article we’ll take you on a guided tour of some lesser known parts of Tinseltown.
Grauman’s Chinese Theatre
A visit to the TCL Chinese Theatre (known historically and locally as Grauman’s) is a fun way to either spend a date or mingle with other local singles.
The famous Forecourt to the Stars lets you see the handprints, footprints (and other body parts) of Hollywood’s finest dating back to the 1920s.
When Sid Grauman opened the theatre back in 1927, he unwittingly stepped into wet concrete and set the precedent for many more famous people to follow suit.
If you’re a movie buff, a stroll along this part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame outside Grauman’s is sure to delight you. You may even strike up a conversation with a fellow film aficionado and end up going to see a movie together.
Bibi’s Bakery & Café
This kosher bakery and café has long opening hours during the week, making it perfect to stop off day or night and mingle with other lovers of sambusak, shaksuka, bagels and bourekas.
Grab a bite to eat and chat over coffee with other Jewish professionals who regularly frequent Bibi’s. Once you’ve been there once, you’ll soon see what all the fuss is about.
Kibitz Room
Next to Canter’s Deli on North Fairfax Avenue, you’ll find the legendary Kibitz Room. A music venue, cocktail bar, meeting place, birthplace to some incredible bands, the Kibitz Room is the epitome of cool.
When you can name-drop stars such as Slash from Guns N’ Roses, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Joni Mitchell among those who’ve played here, you know it’s somewhere very special to hang out. As well as potentially seeing a star of the future, it’s somewhere special to go on a first date or find a person with similar tastes. Who knows where it might lead?
Take the L.A. Jewish Murals Tour
When you’re looking for something a bit different and the chance to meet some people who have the same interest in art as you, the murals tour is well worth the trip.
Street art, history and socializing combine to make for an interesting day. You may even meet a potential partner who’s as handsome or pretty as a picture.
So there you have them. Four fabulous things to do in this sunny city on the West Coast.
